House Of Vibe : Players For Life

It's the Wednesday night jam at Harvelle's, known as the House Of Vibe All-Stars! I got here late last week, but in enough time to hear their rendition of Herbie Hancock's Chameleon. Anthony Brewster... he's the guy that puts this night together, leads the band and sings. His soulful tenor lures the folks on to the dancefloor everytime. He also plays the keys and introduces the night with the soliloquy from Funkadelic's Maggot Brain.
Check in. Tune out. Listen up!

Bongo Fury : Warning!!
On stage tonight, the Bongo Fury show, opens it's curtains and let's Miss Dakota out of the Red Room to destroy men's souls with her dance of beauty and feminine essence. Once you have seen Miss Dakota dance her dance, you will never be the same. The most intense and exotic of Bongo Fury's many gorgeous seductive dancers, Dakota will tattoo your soul and haunt your dreams. Can your heart stand it? Proceed at your own risk.
For you music lovers, check out the band, as the incomparable Walter Davis runs things, and shake your own groove thang to the acid jazz, balearic beats, new wave and vintage funk spun on wax by DJ Daylight. Special guests seem to always drop by. Holding it down: Asa - drums, Bjorn - bass, Victor - congas/bongos and Walter on sax.

Dennis Jones : Another Perfect Day
Like buckshot on your birthday, Dennis Jones will be right there!! This show is exactly what Harvelle's is about! Real blues, a drunken good time, a packed house with audience participation and spontaneous sing-a-longs! If you weren't there, your Saturday night wasn't nearly as good as mine!
Dennis and band (New Orleanian Michael Turner on drums and NYC's funkiest - Sam Correa on bass) kept the crowd in a state of frenzy doing everything from ZZ Top, Meters, Hendrix and some rockin' originals! Get My Baby Right, indeed!?!? Keep low music fans!!! Watch out for Dennis Jones!

Dennis Jones : Sat Night Live
OK, it's Saturday night. Whatchoo gonna do? Dennis Jones will be blasting his electric blues throughout the night - in downtown Santa Monica - where the beautiful people gather.
Friday Night Blues : Key, Hook and Kirk (And Lux)
Key Frances
Hook Herrera
Kirk Fletcher
Hook Herrera is a bluesman's bluesman. Triple threat - singer/guitarist/harpist - Hook brought his Friday night jam on and I crashed the party. Good thing I did, this blues powerhouse rocked the stuffed-tighter-than-a-sausage crowd all night long.
Guest guitarist Kirk Fletcher dazzled the senses with tasty mutha-f*ckin' solos, bringing forth amazement and delight as his fingers skipped across the fretboard of his sunburst Les Paul.
Also sitting in was Key Frances, who shook the foundation with his own brand of swamp blues overload!!! Goo-goo muck* indeed!
A hell of way to kick off the weekend, in which, part 2 (Sat night), Dennis Jones will take the party to the next level. If you missed tonight, come early and catch up.

MWB : Barnstorming
Miss Willie Brown champion the room! A shelter from the storm, as it poured down rain all over 4th St. Harvelle's was nearly flooded, but definitely overfilled with folks who came from near and far to be enthralled by Kasey and Amanda - the women collectively known as Miss Willie Brown. Absolutely one of the hottest acts around, they rocked the house and made it a party! Hope you were there.
Kasey and Amanda thrash and burn. And harmonize sweetly!
and yes, it's Brian Allen on bass guitar
