Key Frances

Key Frances is Cool

Happy new year gentle readers.
Upward and onward they say.
But what a way to start fresh.
Key Frances is a blues legend 'round here.
Not much is known about him.
I know one thing:
Key is cool.

2010 is gonna be a socks-rockin good year.
For real.
The blues.
It's a state of mind and Harvelle's is a one stop shop. Atmosphere, great staff, cheap drinks and a world class sound system make this the prime spot to dig some of the most legandary blues out there.

See you there.

Who's At Harvelle's This Weekend?

Tonight Key Frances sets the bar high for the weekend. Friday, his grungy electric blues band play in support of the new Red Room release "Rough And Raw".

Saturday, Blowin' Smoke bring the jams with their awesome party atmosphere and showcase of the fabulous vocals of the Smokettes, 3 pretty fantastic soul singers with something to prove. I'm pretty sure they're up to it.

Sunday is The Toledo Show. The dark electric funk cabaret is a dramatic crazy tango of which there is nothing like it. Must be experienced to fully understand. Last week's celebration of Toledo's birthday brought the house to capacity, which is not uncommon, so plan accordingly.

Harvelle's is the oldest music establishment in Los Angeles; it's the number one place to hear live jazz and blues since 1931!

Key Frances : Boogie - Straight Out The Swamp

Key Frances plays electric blues straight out the swamp! Southern boogie, wild hair and whisky soaked vocals make Key Frances the man to beat on a Friday night. Come one, come all, come down to Santa Monica's blues hotspot Harvelle's for a funky good time.

Friday Night Blues : Key, Hook and Kirk (And Lux)

Key Frances
Hook Herrera

Kirk Fletcher

Hook Herrera is a bluesman's bluesman. Triple threat - singer/guitarist/harpist - Hook brought his Friday night jam on and I crashed the party. Good thing I did, this blues powerhouse rocked the stuffed-tighter-than-a-sausage crowd all night long.
Guest guitarist Kirk Fletcher dazzled the senses with tasty mutha-f*ckin' solos, bringing forth amazement and delight as his fingers skipped across the fretboard of his sunburst Les Paul.
Also sitting in was Key Frances, who shook the foundation with his own brand of swamp blues overload!!! Goo-goo muck* indeed!

A hell of way to kick off the weekend, in which, part 2 (Sat night), Dennis Jones will take the party to the next level. If you missed tonight, come early and catch up.

Key Frances : Psycha Blues and Swamp Boogie

Tonight Key Frances gives a blues shot in the arm of live musical performances. Lusting, lying, loving - all parts of Key's world.

Expressing it through biting guitar leads and growling swamp "psycha"-blues hooks, he'll lead you into the cold chill of night that has recently fallen upon us in So. Cal.

Prepare to be baptized, forgiven and justified for digging the blues. This is THE spot. Friday night. Harvelle's. 1432 4th St. in Santa Monica.
