Delgado Bros 4 Life. Efil 4 Sorb

Los Brothers Delgado are an incredible Latin-tinged blues and soul group featuring Joey(guitar), Stevie(drums), Bobby(bass) with Victor Passetti (percussion).

These East L.A. boys can funk it up live and any other way you serve it. Their latest CD "Learn To Fly" is classic beautiful Delgado Bros music at it's best.

The evening - which is just heating up as I post - was introduced by perennial Harvelle's doorman Joseph who's words of wisdom have gotten me through many rough times. In future blog posts I will be sharing his words and some of his unique quotations.

It's a cool night that's heating up.

The Return Of Rachel Lynn

Rachel Lynn has been traveling the world - mostly Asia - for the past year and a half. Tonight she returned to share adventures of her travels, singing songs of love, anger, desire and temptation.

A year and a half ago she stood on this same stage and belted out her movie theme tour-de-force "On A Dark And Stormy Night". Co-written by Anthony Brewster - leader of the House Of Vibe- the sweeping drama was showcased among some of RL's great originals and is one of my favorite tunes in her set.

Now she's back and all business. Her voice is so much stronger and emotive, she is a true pleasure to listen to.

I'm sure we'll be seeing more of her now that she's back in the lower 48.

House Of Vibe took over from there and provided the SRO Wednesday night crowd something to cheer and dance to.
(Pictured below: Kris on guitar and Pete on the drums.)

The Toledo Show : Family's Running Deep

This is Toledo Diamond
This is Jessie Payo
That's Tom McNalley backing up Toledo
Walter Davis with unknown Dame

Like some kind of Ambien™ hazed Bootsy Collins nightmare-on-wax, The Toledo Show peeled itself back - like a royal purple onion - revealing family, friends and funk; spectacularly - Harvelle's darling Jessie Payo reuniting with Mr Toledo Diamond himself front and center; familiarly - the return of the forever vocals of Rachel Lynn to So Cal; and funkily - the knock-down drag-out rhythm section of Brian Allen on bass plus (any and all drummers including Asa Watkins &) Punky!! (also of note: the appearance onstage of SoulFunk vet, guitarist Tom McNalley).

Toledo and Jessie reunited
That's Rachel Lynn
(Come check her out solo on Wednesday night before House Of Vibe)
