Blues And Burlesque : A Monster Combo

Blues and burlesque seem like a perfect combo. Especially dirty, grimy blues. Fucked up blues. Deranged bluesmen pumping three chords louder and louder, twin guitars dueling while the harp player blows like a hurricane and a singer in a red three-piece suit bellows through a homemade bullhorn, which only serves to distort and fuck things up further. Molly, a burlesque dancer of some note and a Toledo Show "Dame", threw herself around like a voluptuous rag doll, psychotically blazing a sexy scene to the delight of both the boys in the band and the folks on the floor. Take a look for yourself:

The Toledo Show : Dame Molly D'Amour

Dame Molly has been a dancer with The Toledo Show for several years. One of the darkest and sultriest of the dames, Molly is a goth princess, tattooed with blood red lips. She has been touring with the impossibly successful Lady Gaga as well, dancing her way around the world in a high profile tour.

The Toledo Show : Thirsty!!

Hungry for love, but thirsty for water - that was tonight's un-official theme, and evidently both Toledo and dancer Molly D'amour were parched as hell. Crystal Geyser is the official water of The Toledo Show and Harvelle's. Come have a bottle or a beer or one of the specialty cocktails.

The Toledo Show goes off every Sunday night for the last 10 years at Harvelle's in Santa Monica - 1432 4th St. between Broadway and Santa Monica Blvd. They also play at the Harvelle's in Long Beach every Thursday.

Does anyone not know about The Toledo Show? The Westside's livest experience must be seen to be understood. Some of the funkiest cats in L.A. are in The Toledo Show. Toledo, Spoonie, Brew, Shamari, Asa, Sebastian, the new guitar player, Malik and Walter are at the top of their game. The Dames - Erin, Mindy, Leah and Molly seem to have raised the stakes in the burlesque dance department. With burlesque shows playing everywhere in some sort of revival, this is the real deal.
