House Of Vibe : The Men

The Men
(of House Of Vibe)

The Men was a TV series on ABC in 1972-73 an umbrella title for three adventure series: Assignment Vienna, Jigsaw, and The Delphi Bureau. The common element in each of the series was that its hero was a rugged individualist, working essentially alone with little or no supervision on matters of vital interest. The program was originally aired on Thursday nights with each element appearing in a regular rotation, every third week, but when the program was moved to Saturday nights in January 1973 the elements began to be aired with several episodes of the same element appearing in consecutive weeks. The theme from The Men was a classic Isaac Hayes cut.(Wikipedia)

House Of Vibe : Wed Night Leo Party TONIGHT!!

The House Of Vibe AllStars is a collective of players, singers and rappers who get together every Wednesday night to stir souls and kick out the jams. Not all at once of course, but a night with HOVAS is like a cool party. It starts mellow but ends up a full-out bash. You never know who's gonna drop by!!

It's funk, it's hip-hop, it's soul and r&b. There's nothing like it anywhere else. Every Wednesday, Brew and the crew get down like it's the last day on earth.
Like it's 1999.
It must be experienced to be understood.
A HOVAS show is like surfing a giant wave on an inflatable ass. It's like getting yelled at for playing your drums too loud - and not caring. It's like winning at chess and selling the most candy bars. It's impossible not to have a memorable time.

Strange Brew : Koffee House Of Vibe

Every Wednesday, the musical gang known as HOVAS (House Of Vibe All Stars) celebrates with a cheap time at a place where everybody knows your name.

If you've been, you know.

If you've never been, and you like funk, r&b, reggae, rock and soul performed by the funkiest crew west of Detroit, (or at least north of Abbot Kinney) tonight's the night.

AND SPEAKING OF BREW:
Koffeehouse Sessions is upon us. The first Thursday of every month is the singer/songwriter showcase that has the industry buzzing. The good people at Spin PR are sponsoring the night, which features Harvelle's "pin-up girl" Jessie Payo, Lost In Los Angeles, Terry Ilous and Cliff Beach. An open mic kicks things off at 6:30.

Housin' and Vibin' @ Harvelle's!!

House Of Vibe is the Wednesday night house band at Harvelle's. Their combination of hip-hop, jazz, r&b, soul, rock and funk is as original as it is infectious. Tonight (as noted in the last entry) is Bif Chitlin's birthday. It is also Michael Bolger's, who sat in on trumpet!!
Besides being a birthday party, it was also a homecoming of sorts - band leader Brew has been on the road with De La Soul (and recently backed Talib Kweli on the Jimmy Kimmel Show) - and that's always cause for celebration.
Brew is thankful for what he gots

Video : John Piazza y Greg Raymond

Singer John Piazza has been honing his R&B skills on Tuesday nights, playing before the House Of Vibe All Stars (of which he is also a member). Stop in and check him out live. His music will make your night better.
Check out keyboardist Greg Raymond.
He's the man.

House Of Vibe All Stars dominate the stage every Wednesday at Harvelle's here in Santa Monica, so it was a surprise to see the reggae band Divine Crime (led by Miss Amee Jana) set it off this past Wednesday.

House Of Vibe/Westside Tribe member John Piazza followed with a set of his super smooth r&b. John served double duty, filling in for some of the members of HOV who are currently on tour in Europe with Chali 2na.

House Of Vibe : Tuna Melt

Chali 2na (below) gave us a party we won't soon forget Wednesday night at Harvelle's! The night's theme was 'sweat', and that we did, as the non-stop dance floor remained packed and kinetic.
House Of Vibe took their playing to an inspirational new level, as the musicians - Greg Raymond (keys), Pete Antunes (drums), Kris Hawkins (guitar), Corey Cofield (bass), Anthony Brewster (keys and vocals), Sebastian Legar (trumpet) Shaunte Palmer (trombone), Dan Boissy(sax)and Amy Lou (percussion) - jammed furiously, stunning and moving all at once. Westside Tribe members Deploi, Jon Swift and Tony Tarasco, took the stage like they were doing battle. And winning.
The party's highlight was Chali and his brother Laid Law (above). The H.O.V. backed hour-long set of new songs and classic Jurassic 5 (Chali's rap group) had the crowd singing along, waving their arms in the air and thrilled with the awesome 'robot dance' (below) he and Laid Law perpetrated.
